I believe learning is the key to solving problems. By starting with the end goal in mind and maintaining a solution based mindset I ensure that the learning will produce results.
As an instructional designer, I focus on team work and collaboration. Working closely with subject matter experts, I establish the desired outcome of any training. I keep communication open by checking in at each step of the process, ensuring that the training in creation is going to meet the business needs and ensure the success of those who will take the training.
Learning plays a large part of my career as well. I believe in always learning in order to stay up to date with new technologies and techniques that will enable me to continuously be at the cutting edge of instructional design.
When I'm not working you can find me curled up with a good book, walking the dog, or rocking out on my drums.

Design Process
Working closely with subject matter experts, I come to understand the business gap and needs with a needs analysis.
With a focus on the end goal I work backwards to create an action map that describes how we will go from a gap to being successful.
Next I determine which tools, programs and modality will best fit the project.
Working with subject matter experts I create design documents and a story board that describe the structure of the intended learning. This includes the type of assessments, interactions that will meet the learning objectives.
Now I design the learning experience with a focus on adult learning theories. Ensuring that the learning has application in the real world.
I know a project is successful if the learners are engaged with the learning to produce the desired improvement as described int he needs analysis.
